WFC Support – Supporting youth football in the Vaasa region
WFC Support is the Wasa Footballcup Support Fund, which annually awards grants to football clubs in Vasa and the surrounding areas. The application period opens every year in November.
The goal of WFC Support is to support football in the region, especially activities for children and youth aged 6–15. Any profits from the tournaments are reinvested into the fund.
What does WFC Support fund?
WFC Support primarily supports projects that complement existing activities, especially those that:
- Promote collaboration between clubs
- Encourage grassroots football and continued participation
- Boost motivation, skills, or interest among players, parents, and club members
Who received grants in 2026?
Total sum of grants 27000€.
VPS Juniorit:F or goalkeeper training for all football clubs in Vaasa (Continuation from 2025).
Bollklubben -48 r.f: To enable technical training for juniors aged 8–13 after the match season, following the Finnish Football Association’s technical competition model.
FC Kiisto: Support for organizing joint player development days in spring 2026 for U14–U15 players, to promote continued football participation, development, and motivation among players in smaller football clubs in the Vaasa region.
Sundom IF: For organizing “Football Day” – a free football event for all children in the Vaasa region (Continuation from 2025).
Wasa Fotbollsakademi: a) For additional summer training sessions, an initiative that promotes both physical activity and football development for juniors, and increases participation in club sports. b) Implementation of a comprehensive training program focusing on striking technique for both coaches and players. The training is carried out by Tillslag AB (Eija Feodoroff). The aim is to raise the technical competence of coaches and develop players’ individual skills in passing, shooting, and ball contact.
Iskmo-Jungsund BK:a) For an inspiration day featuring various lectures aimed at coaches and parents. b) O rganizing running technique courses for juniors aged 9–12. The purpose of the course is to provide young players with basic knowledge of running technique and movement patterns that support their development as football players and promote injury‑preventive training.
VIFK: Support to initiate a development process for a digital tool designed to assist various club officials in football organizations.
Malax IF & VIFK: For organizing a training tournament in football for girls aged 14–15 at division 2 level or lower, with the aim of creating more evenly matched game opportunities in the region.
Vaasan erotuomarikerho ry: Organizing Ref Support. The purpose is to strengthen and improve the quality of referee activities, with a particular focus on the grassroots level, and to support young and new referees in their development for the benefit of the sport.
